So, here's another one that tripped me up for a good week or so. I've been trying to install Operations Manager 2007 so that we can test its usefulness in monitoring some of our Microsoft-based systems. I got the Ops Manager platform installed ok, but when I went to install the Reporting Server, I would get a "SRS Server Validation Error" every time.
I tried the usual googling for solutions, but nothing seemed to resolve the issue. Then, three pages deep into a Google search I found this:
http://kbalertz.com/946418/Error-message-install-System-Center-Operations-Manager-reporting-Server-Validation.aspx
Apparently, despite the fact that I was able to browse to https://servername/reporting without any errors, I still had to remove the SSL port from the Default Web Site configuration.
Now I just have to figure out what the "Audit Collection Server" does...
